The length of a session depends upon the history and severity of the condition. Treatments
can take as short as 5 minutes or take as long as 60 minutes depending
upon the size of the area being treated. During the actual session, clients usually say that they don't feel anything. Low level laser therapy or cold laser therapy is in reality very safe and painless. Low power lasers do not have the effect of warming the skin but some may perceive a very slight heat during the treatment. Few clients also experience a very slight tingling sensation, much like a body part falling asleep, feeling while having the session. These clients usually have severe conditions. Initial results can be seen within 10 to 15 minutes after the initial session, lasting for days afterwards. Also, as you visit for this treatment as scheduled, you will be able to feel the effect as it builds up. Interestingly, the optimum results from that completed session will be seen about 48 hours after the visit. Following each subsequent session, many times a whole new level of relief will be noticed. Also, the results are permanent for acute conditions wherein there is lesser damage to tissues or body organs. However, for some serious conditions, there is a possibility that some symptoms may occur in the future. But it is suggested that a booster treatment be given to more sever conditions. Depending upon the condition, the technologist will develop a suggested plan for the client. Many individuals are initially scheduled for three sessions three to four days apart. The average number of treatments can be at twelve to twenty five sessions depending upon the severity of the condition. The only follow-up to the treatment is drinking plenty of water to help continue the process of healing. There are no side effects to the treatment. Some clients with long-term chronic pain, may experience a slight "pain response" which could last anywhere from two to twenty four hours. During this period, it is recommended they increase their water in take. Once the discomfort passes, there will be a notable increase in the comfort level of the individual. The "pain response" is caused by the body beginning to operate normally again - triggering nerves and muscles which have remained stagnant for a long period of time. |

Cold laser therapy, or low level laser therapy, is a treatment in which a cold laser
is used to treat acute and chronic pain. It is also called a "soft laser."
If you suffer from back pain, joint pain, tendonitis, fibromyalgia, migraine headaches,
neuropathy, neck pain, or other related health conditions, cold laser
therapy might be a viable solution for you. Cold laser therapy works by increasing the levels of serotonin to help your body heal itself. The therapy is noninvasive and non-thermal. The cold laser was derived from phototherapy, a light |
healing method developed more than 30 years ago. In phototherapy, a special type
of light penetrates the surface of the skin as well as underlying tissues to stimulate
natural healing in the body. The low level laser light used in cold laser
therapy is actually the compressed light of a wavelength from the red part of
the light spectrum, or the cold part This is not a medical laser which can cause
burns or create surgical cuts. During the cold laser process, the body's cells are exposed to photon energy, which in turn increases the cells' metabolism, helps to develop muscle tissue and collagen, improves blood circulation, stimulates tissue repair and the healing of wounds, and stimulates the nervous and immune systems. Cold lasers are also used in acupuncture to stimulate the acupoints of the body without using needles. |
